Are you truly thankful?

November 19, 2007 · 1 Comment

As I prepare for a week packed with pumpkin pie, turkey and more football than you can shake a stick at, I am forced to think about what it really means to be thankful, or at least what things I should really be thankful for.  This year, I have a lot.

But as I scan the list of all the usual suspects, I am reminded that it all comes to back to one thing… I am thankful for God.  Maybe it sounds cliche, but I don’t know how else to put it… for me, it all comes down to the truth found in James 1:17 (MSG), “Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven.”  As I count my blessings, I over flow with thanks for the One who blesses.

As you sit at home this week celebrating Thanksgiving and enjoying the time off from school, I give you three pieces of Thanksgiving advice… 1)save room for dessert, 2)the smart bet is on the Cowboys, and 3) get alone and really tell God thanks for all the good things you have… maybe start with the pumpkin pie.
